Bloom Box: New fuel cell technology that is a real step forward

Bloom Energy generates clean, reliable power onsite with minimal environmental impact, making the Bloom Energy Server™ one of the most sustainable solutions on the market today. Compared to alternative sources, Bloom delivers enhanced sustainability benefits in many ways: high efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, avoided air pollutants, small physical footprint, and reduced water use.

Higher Efficiency

Bloom Energy Servers convert natural gas or renewable biogas into electricity using a direct electrochemical reaction without combustion. This highly efficient process is not bound by the same thermodynamic constraints1 for creating electricity and thus enables exceptionally high conversion efficiency. Today, Bloom ships systems with an industry-leading 60+ percent electrical efficiency, based on the lower heating value (LHV) of the fuel — a figure that has increased markedly since our first commercial shipments in 2008. Looking forward, we see a clear pathway to deliver even higher efficiency.

By contrast, the average coal-fired power plant — with over a century of R&D behind it — converts only 33 percent of its energy input into electricity.2 Yet because no one wants a coal plant in their “backyard”, this electricity is generated a great distance away from the end user and must be transported via hundreds of miles of power lines, causing a portion of this power generated to become lost — anywhere from 7 – 10 percent in the developed world, and up to 50 percent3 in developing economies. Since Bloom Energy Servers typically generate power at the customer’s site, energy is generated and provided directly where it is needed, thus avoiding these losses altogether.

As the world transitions to a renewable energy future, the most sustainable pathway is to consume our precious resources more efficiently. Not only is it more sustainable, but it’s also smarter — fuel savings mean money savings.

Low CO2 Emissions

Bloom Energy Servers convert fuel into delivered electricity at the highest level of efficiency amongst commercially available technologies. Greater efficiency means less fuel consumed to produce the same output of electricity, and that lower fuel consumption corresponds to fewer CO2 emissions. Even when compared to advanced centralized combined cycle gas turbine power plants equipped with the best available control technology (BACT) — the US EPA’s benchmark — Bloom delivers a lower CO2 footprint due to higher electricity efficiency.

The flexibility of the Bloom Energy Server allows customers to dramatically reduce their carbon emissions while continuing to power their operations reliably. When fueled with biogas, the Bloom Energy Server provides 100 percent carbon neutral power generation. When fueled with natural gas, it releases a fraction of the CO2 produced by coal-fired plants or modern combined cycle natural gas plants even before taking into account transmission losses. As businesses prepare for a carbon-constrained future, the Bloom Energy Server offers a clean, reliable, and affordable solution to meet a customer’s sustainability needs.

Virtually No Smog Forming Particulates

Because Bloom uses solid oxide fuel cell technology that converts fuel into electricity via an electrochemical reaction, Bloom Energy Servers virtually eliminate smog forming particulates and harmful NOx and SOx emissions that are emitted by conventional power plants. These invisible emissions cause smog, asthma, and harm human health.4

Small Physical Footprint

Large centralized power plants, whether they are coal-fired, gas-fired, wind, solar or hydropower, require large land areas far from most population centers. The electricity they produce is diminished through transmission and distribution losses. The Bloom Energy Server, on the other hand, is a compact solution with units occupying only a slightly larger footprint than a parking space. They are located onsite — eliminating T&D losses — and are well-suited for urban environments.

Water Savings

Bloom Energy Servers also deliver extraordinary water savings. Bloom’s technology uses no water beyond a 240-gallon injection at start up. By comparison, the average U.S. coal plant uses 1.1 million gallons per 200 kW annually, and efficient combined cycle natural gas plants use 416,100 gallons per 200 kW annually.5

Additionally, the simple, modular, building-block architecture is easy to install and easy to buy. As your energy needs grow, Bloom can grow with you, all the while delivering clean, reliable electricity —the benefits of Better Electrons.

Freeman Flashback – Truth Quest

Freeman FlyAugust 25th, 2009 Truth Quest with Melodee

Freeman speaks of his work with symbolism and it’s history and how it translates into architecture throughout cultures. We speak of Project Blue Beam, cloning of humans, the Pope recognizing aliens as real, and various military/space projects that are interwoven into our news and print that seem to be futuristic but, are tied to the past. Elites bloodlines, Secret Societies, Luciferianism, word etymology, and bizarre ritual ceremonial sacrifices such as Anna Nichole through mind control, programming humans, Walt Disney, and Freeman’s exceptional, yet not so unusual, family background of his father and mother’s secret society ties.

The Djinn and ET Abductions by Rosemary Ellen Guiley

“This is my land. I am ancient. I was here before you. I do not like you here. Leave. If you do not, I will make you miserable until you do.”

This ominous message was delivered one night during my three-year investigation of an intensely haunted and problem-plagued piece of land in the Eastern part of the United States. Over the course of time, I, my team, and the occupants of the land experienced an amazing range of phenomena that made this place a Grand Central of the Strange. There were ghosts. Poltergeists. Phantom “things” with too many legs. Mysterious creatures of no known earthly origin. Unidentified lights in the sky. Craft of unknown origin. Saw-toothed beings that stared out of windows. Flying black shadows and pillars of black that radiated intense malevolence. Flying multi-colored orbs and lights that shape-shifted as they zipped over the ground. And, underneath everything, a sinister intelligence that orchestrated a relentless campaign of psychological and physical terror that affected everyone involved.

“With Whom Am I Speaking?!” by Carl James

In a 2010 article – “Believing the Strangest Things, Loving the Alien…” – alternative knowledge researcher Andrew Johnson discussed the deeper significance of the songs of David Bowie – particularly the 1980s tune “Loving the Alien”. Andrew Johnson notes: “It is meant to relate to organised religion, but the use of the word “alien” seems rather odd to me. (…) In the light of what we know now about the reality of extra-terrestrials and their appearance in our skies (and on the ground), reviewing the lyrics in some of Bowie’s songs really can make one wonder.”

Further to this, he says: “Generally speaking, it seems there is an effort to muddle up, cover up or discredit those discussing or providing information about higher consciousness or those interacting with it. To me, there seems to be a strong effort to discourage or prevent people from experiencing it – or, when they do, there is then an effort to manage their perception of it (e.g. what is common to all religions? It is the mystical experience. So, “let’s muddle up the mystical experience in a religion so that no one can understand it or fully appreciate it”.)”

Increasingly, more and more researchers are examining the role of belief systems in relation to the extra-terrestrial paradigm. This has raised many questions about the origin of certain phenomenon and seemingly extra-terrestrial contact. How many of these scenarios are being distorted, steered and usurped by human hands? Is it possible that some have been wholly engineered as part of an unseen agenda?

The DIY Engineer Who Built a Nuclear Reactor in His Basement

Some people—myself not excluded—go to an office everyday because they can’t think of anywhere else to go. We practice the prompt repression of wild ideas in exchange for remunerative employment, which to some is considered to be a kind of meaningful existence. Doug Coulter is not that sort of worker.

He may have started out behind a desk when he worked in the security business as a beltway bandit, coming up with signal processing and radio gadgets for our favorite three-lettered intelligence agencies, but in recent years, Doug’s chosen to explore his engineering interests in the isolated backwoods of Virginia, absent from any pesky boss or sticky bureaucracy.

Doug’s gone from being paid to play with other people’s expensive toys to making his own. And although he may call them toys because of the amount of fun he derives from them, his creations are hardly ordinary playthings. Then again, Doug is no ordinary man.

After living with a meth head who had a trigger finger itchier than an Appalachian mosquito bite, Doug gave his ex-housemate the boot and confiscated his weapons, thus paving the way for his new found love for gunsmithing. Being that Virginia is one of America’s more gun-friendly states, Doug’s new skills made him a popular guy in the neighborhood. And instead of hoarding his knowledge of firearms, Doug has since open sourced his gun and ammo making techniques on his well-trafficked engineering forum.

But Doug’s most exciting creation is his guerilla-engineered nuclear fusion reactor. His pursuit of a limitless source of clean and self-sufficient energy takes place in what he calls his “den of creative chaos,” which is essentially a cluttered workshop in the entrance of his home, directly underneath his bedroom.

Nuclear fusion, which produces energy by fusing atoms, rather than splitting them, has been a dream of physicists and clean energy fans for years. But while there have recently been major strides to in fusion generation, a full-time reactor that produces more energy than it takes in remains a long ways off.

Doug claims that his homemade fusion reactor has the potential to be the holy grail of energy, and hopes to one day pass the threshold at which the reactor produces more power than it needs to run. It’s certainly fair to be skeptical of Coulter’s claims, although he isn’t—and he’s not the only person building DIY nuclear reactors.

To hear Doug tell it, his efforts could possibly level and at least royally piss off a trillion dollar energy industry. Long shot it may be, but at least he’s going for it. Instead of fatiguing himself with morning commutes and measly paychecks, Doug is more busy developing and sharing his open source DIY philosophy to share with the rest of us.
