John Oliver’s sit-down with NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden could have just been a series of easy laughs. Instead it’s proven to be one of the most straightforwardly incisive interviews with the notorious leaker in months. It has also been great business for HBO, driving millions of views on YouTube, and presumably a sizeable bump for the show’s new on-demand viewership.
