When one begins to investigate the UFO phenomenon, one quickly comes across talk of secret aircraft and secret military projects. When I did research for my A-Level General Studies Project on UFOs in 1982 and 1983, I remember contacting BUFORA (British UFO Research Association) and I was sent an A5 booklet which was a recent issue of their journal. One of the articles was entitled “UFOs are Secret Aircraft of the USA and USSR”. I cannot recall the name of the author but I thought he described some convincing evidence to make his case. (Although I am not trying to suggest this explains away all the UFO sightings and phenomena which people have witnessed and experienced!)
What I didn’t realise back in the 1980’s when I was ‘reading up’ for my project was that, a few years earlier, the USSR and the USA already had a secret (manned) space programme in operation – details of which have come to light in the last few years.
