George Osborne has delivered his sixth Budget as chancellor, and
the last of the current Parliament ahead of the General Election in
May. While any budget is unlikely to please everyone, the
British games industry is set to prosper.
Among the announcements — which included the
UK economy as a whole increasing by 2.6 percent in 2014
— was £8m support for the games sector. This will be split in
half, with £4m over the next four years going into a “Prototype
Fund” to help companies improve access to financing, and the
remainder set for the Skills Investment Fund.
