Graphene could revolutionise battery tech, create super-strength spider silk, and soak up oil spills in minutes — Iron Man even wants his next suit to be made from the atom-thick carbon material. Fictional comic book heroes aside, it seems there’s nothing the wonder material — discovered at the University of Manchester in 2004 and shown to be incredibly light, strong and conductive — can’t do. Now a team in China reckons the material could one day be used to build a solar-powered spacecraft.
