The EEG will be running a practical weekend of dowsing at the vast, but comparatively little known, archaeological site of Thornborough Henges in East Yorkshire on 6th and 7th August 2016.
This is a particularly interesting site, not just because of the scale of the earthworks, but because it on private land – and it is therefore less subject to the disruptive activity of tourists.
EEG member, David Sharpe, has obtained approval for us to dowse the site over that weekend, subject to certain conditions. Especially for those from further afield, this is an infrequent opportunity for formal access and not to be missed.
Thornborough has been described by English Heritage as the most important archaeological site between Salisbury Plain and Orkney – which is quite some accolade.
