An academic has warned developing killer robots would leave humanity “utterly defenceless”.
Stuart Russell, professor of computer science at the University of California, Berkley, writes in the journal Nature that two programmes commissioned by the US Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) would — if successful — “foreshadow planned uses” of killer robots, and potentially contravene the Geneva Convention.
