Sharing revenge pornography is now illegal thanks to legislation that has come into effect in England and Wales today (13 April).
According to an amendment to the Criminal Justice and Courts Bill, those who “disclose private sexual photographs and films with the intent to cause distress” can now be prosecuted and face up to two years in jail for the crime. The definition of “private” according to the legislation means that “it shows something that is not of a kind ordinarily seen in public”.
