Skyrim is first game to allow paid game mods on Steam

Valve has implemented one of the biggest changes in the history of its PC gaming platform Steam, or rather more specifically, the Steam Workshop. Previously, it was a place for users to share their own mods for games, but now those fan-made creations can be sold at profit.

The rollout isn’t applicable to all games yet. In fact, at present only The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is getting pushed on the new system. Already a hugely popular game with thousands of mods in existence, it’s now the spotlight of Steam’s announcement page. Valve points out the many mods available for it, and the game’s publisher Bethesda is going so far as to make the game free for all users until 26 April. Valve says that “many more of your favorite Workshop games will support paid content in the coming weeks.”
